Game Guide

The aim of the creators of Dimension X49 is to foster creative writing ability in talented people who might not have realised how talented they really are yet. We try to provide a forum for them to exhibit, encourage and challenge their skills while playing pieces in a larger macrocosm. We try to provide a varying, stimulating and rich storyline, realistic interactions between the characters and their environment (despite a predominantly futuristic theme and setting), and a friendly, open-minded and relaxed forum.

Dimension X49 also contains components which require access, and time, to surf the net to be able to comprehend some of the different subjects, which are extremely varied, and the GM's suggest that you interact with the other players out of game to encourage team building.

1) Dimension X49 is predominantly a freeform game (click here for further information). Therefore EVERY post in Dimension X49 is to be taken as a GM post (i.e. gospel). EVERY post is to be read thoroughly as you do not know who has been told what and you may miss important clues.

2) Players of DX49 should be over the age of 17. In certain states in the US it is illegal to distribute R (Adult Only) material to minors. We do not wish the content to be limited by this and take no responsibility for the content of player's posts.

3) Never initiate any other character's actions without discussing it with the player and GMs. The reason for this rule is fairly simple - We cannot (as much as we would all like to) put words in other people's mouth's in real life so why should we here? This makes for more interesting game play and also ensures that your character is your own, to be played solely by you. Occasionally it is necessary to go against this rule for the sake of moving the game along. In this case the actions and speech of the other character is to be kept to a minimum and ALWAYS discussed with the GM before posting. You must also put a notice on the end of your post stating that the post was jointly written with the other relevant player, please separate this from the rest of your post with a line or stars.

4) Always discuss personal disagreements directly with the GM's, via email or ICQ, and they will be resolved as quickly and painlessly as possible.

5) All posts must be a minimum of one hundred words with correct spelling and grammar (grammatical variations are acceptable if they are representational of the character). Please do not use italics or pretty text as this is not compatible with every email program and makes the posts annoying to read.

6) DX49 is a reasonably fast game (most players post at least once every two days). For this reason a minimum of two posts a week is required. If an absence of longer than a week is required please notify the GM's directly and separately from your post.

7) The GM's must be notified before the following actions are posted:
- Major plot variations
- Anything majorly controversial (e.g. - pedophilia, rape)

8) All arguments and bitching amongst players is to be kept to a minimum and is to always be in character. Major character disagreements are to be discussed with the GM and other players involved before coming into gameplay.

9) Always remember that the character is NOT the person playing it. Don't hold personal grudges out of character.

10) Develop a thick skin. Characters are going to insult your character along the way, don't take it personally.

11) The GM's are always open to suggestions and interesting ideas.

12) Have fun and a good laugh, that's what we're here for isn't it?
